Well, knitters, it has been quite a week. Halloween is a really big deal here in New Orleans, for grown-ups as well as for kids. Above is me, somewhat tipsy, in my glam witch costume fashioned by Miss Laura. It has a little matching bolero jacket (on my knee) but it was just too hot to wear it. Isn’t my hat dreamy, though?!? We met many odd characters on our Halloween walk-about. Check out Miss Laura’s super goggle-y Steampunk witch hat! Boy, she loves some ball fringe, too.
This is my friend Casey who has invented this wonderful interactive noise machine. This mobile machine has been a work in progress for the last probably 20 years. It’s so fabulous and fun, we once hired Casey to play a party in our courtyard allowing our guests to indulge in the primal instinct of making noise. Casey also makes the most wonderful jewelry out of old forks and spoons.
That very night, a front rolled through and the temperature began to drop. When I woke this morning, the thermometer said 55 degrees! That’s winter time for us! That’s what got me thinking about cardigans. With the holidays bearing down upon us, this may be the last chance for a little personal knitting before the games begin or something to tuck away for knitting between Christmas and New Years. I always try to fit a personal project in there that’s just for me. Whenever you’re ready, here are a couple of cardigan discounts for you.
With the Caroline Cardigan, I’ve aimed for a feminine feel with modern versatility. A simple raglan with a slightly slouchy shape and low V-neck speaks to a vintage sensibilty that could readily be styled with well-laundered retro dresses and square, collarless blouses. Hemmed picot neck, sleeve and buttonband edges dress up jeans and T-shirts. A simple open stitch pattern creates an airy layering piece that’s perfect between seasons, particularly when worked in a tender yarn like Millamia Naturally Soft Merino.
Lightweight and relaxed, the Martha Cardigan makes the perfect go-to spring sweater. A classic straight shape and cropped length makes layering over blouses, T-shirts and dresses easy and stylish while a touch of patterning at the hem (including some whimsical bobbles!) makes her a dream to knit.
Today, to celebrate the onset of Cardigan Season, I’d like to offer a BOGO discount on these two fun and easy DK weight cardigans to knit in the car, on the train or in front of the television during these chilly late autumn evenings. This offer is good for the entire week, until midnight on Friday, November 9, 2018. Just head over to my Ravelry shop, pop the cardigans into your shopping cart and enter the coupon code YOUNEEDIT at checkout. Then cast on! (Feel free to share a link to this page with your friends, but please don’t give out the coupon code. It helps me a lot when folks come here to visit.) If you like these little discounts (I usually offer them on Friday mornings) and are interested in my work, I’d love to see you over at the new Ravelry group Friends of Littlechurch Knits. Until we meet again, happy knitting!
