Wool People 13!

It’s been such a big week! Wednesday marked the launch of Brooklyn Tweed Wool People 13 and within it, my Osier Cardigan. I can’t tell you how thrilled and honored I am to be part of this amazing collection!

Wool People 13 is inspired by the interplay of nature and structure: modern gardens, urban oases, and other constructed spaces where nature invites itself in and people seek daily refuge. Lace and cable motifs curve and twine amidst crisp lines and architectural silhouettes. Like wisteria flowers climbing up concrete, the pieces are playful and hardy, yet soft and just a bit untamed. Designed for daily wear, each piece in this collection unites modern intricacies with timeless comfort.

I remember being a little intimidated about submitting to Brooklyn Tweed because theirs is an aesthetic I have long admired. I’ve always loved the quiet repose of the images and the authenticity of the models. The designs are always restrained and simple and feature incredible details. I didn’t expect to be selected for Wool People and boy, was I surprised when I got that email!

To reach for the essential in something is really hard. The temptation to decorate and elaborate is strong. I let deep ribbing, simple texture and horizontal pockets do the work in Osier.

Having long been a fan of woolen spun yarns, it was a true delight to work with Shelter. Airy, fluffy and puffy yet rustic and authentic in texture, Shelter works up into an austere, homespun fabric of amazing lightness. The palette is rich and sophisticated, and I wanted to knit Osier in every single shade.

Working with the team at Brooklyn Tweed made Wool People a superb creative experience. The team were endlessly supportive, creative and adventurous. The BT experience is one I hope to have again and again. In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy exploring this gorgeous collection!

I'd love to hear from you!
