Who’s a Lucky Knitter?

I am! It has been a week of lovely acquisitions delivered right to my door!

Now, what could this be for?? Well, I can’t spill the beans just yet, but you can expect something exciting. Once again, I’ll be working with the wonderful team at Brooklyn Tweed to produce a handsome new design. I love working with woolen spun yarns and Shelter is among my favorites. I can tell you that the new project is textured and cable-y, size inclusive and designed for all genders. The color pictured is “Yellowstone”. Needless to say, I am swatching like a demon.

I’ve also received a fancy box of joy from my friends at Cascade Yarns. There are three projects forthcoming for Cascade, two of which feature the glorious workhorse, Cascade 220. I never tire of this worsted spun gem because it creates fabulous stitch definition and durable quality classics that wear forever. It also comes in a huge range of colors. This time around, we’ll be working with the worsted and sport weights. I can’t wait to share these two great projects.

Cascade Aegean Tweed is a new-to-me yarn that has a delightful toothiness and features subtle neps on a muted background. (There may be a little cable in this project too!)

I’m still on the fence about Solveig, my Selbu-inspired pullover. I have a plan to save all of the knitting while achieving the yoke I really want. I’m going to write a whole post about it at some point. Here’s the progress on the second yoke, but be advised that another tear-down is imminent. (Almost there, though!)

In other news, the weather here in South Louisiana has been fabulous. We’ve had the perfect mix of sweater-worthy chilliness, misty fog and t-shirt weather. Today, we’ve got a spooky blend of mizzle and dense fog at a damp 70 degrees. I don’t know what to wear!

Most of you know that I love to walk and recently, I’ve discovered a couple of the city’s hidden treasures. My latest favorite is the Louisiana Children’s Museum tucked into our beloved City Park where I walk at least 3 times a week. There’s a little cafe in there called Acorn. It is a member of the famous Brennan group of restaurants and though it’s reasonably priced, offers some top shelf fare and fancy coffee along with Abita beer and champagne and wine in pretty little cans. (It wouldn’t be New Orleans if you couldn’t have a cocktail, now would it?) Also, it’s hard to beat the view!

Hope you all have a happy day of knitting!
