Many of the fabulous blogs I follow reserve a special day each week to revisit all of their Works in Progress and I think, given the number of unfinished progress bars found here, that I should do the same. It’s inspiring, dragging all of these poor ignored little souls out of their hiding places!
The most long-suffering of these is the fluffy and warm Two Drunkards Cowl. I got stalled on this baby largely due to the onset of spring weather. Normally wonderfully soft and lovely-to-knit, Punta Marisol is not my go-to yarn when the trees are in bud and the temperature rises above zero. Not only that, I’m not real sure where this project is going. The matching mittens and hat are done (sans pompom) and I love them. The cowl, however, is not all I hoped and dreamed it would be. For starters, I think it’s too short. I’m knitting it in the round and spent hours with the chart attempting to weave the crazy, asymmetrical cables together, eliminating the neutral ground between them. I’m not sure I like it. I’m thinking I might frog it. Anyway, I don’t think we’ll be seeing 100% in that progress bar any time soon.
You may have noticed a new progress bar this week, since I finished off the Haruni. You know how it is when you finish a really good book, but you’re so engaged by the story and so attached to the characters that you don’t want it to end? Well, that’s how it’s been with my current foray into lace shawls. I finished Haruni and was sorry it was over so I started Holden. In fact, so anxious was I to start it that I didn’t even bother to run out to my LYS on a damp and drizzly Saturday. Rather, I frogged a pair of half-finished socks I’ve always hated in what I consider to be the world’s ugliest yarn. “Rise and be ugly no more, oh Frog Princess of yarns! Rise and become…..Holden!” (Please withhold all judgements until after blocking).
Then, of course, there are the sweaters. I love them both, but they are both stockinette stitch. (What we have here is a failure to plan). I’m not too worried though. These are both great knitting-in-the-car projects, and since we plan on spending the next few weekends out at The Church, I’m sure they’ll both see splendid progress while on the DVP and 401. What’s on your needles this Wednesday?

I may be stealing this idea. It sounds like a good idea. And it might give me the extra push I need to rip out some of those things that are lying around here, abandoned mid stitch, like some unwanted pets.

The progress bars are a great way to keep you honest and committed! I think I might need those tool
By the way I am loving the cable work on your cowl!

I am surrounded by works in progress but haven’t been able to knit for since Monday. I stressed my left hand (knitting marathon weekend) … I’m hoping by the end of the week I’ll be able to join!

Love your progress bars! The key with lots of projects is slow and steady wins the race–every project has a different mood, ya know? Happy car knitting is not the same as stressed out and up in the middle of the night knitting.

Oh, you are soooo right 🙂
