<whew> I’m BACK! Just in time for Christmas!
Goodness, gracious, how I’ve missed my little blog! I can’t believe it’s been 7 (count ’em…SEVEN months) and lots and lots has happened. It would take an entire post to catch you up so I’ll just hit on the high points and throw in hiatus anecdotes here and there, as appropriate. Not necessarily in this order:
- Got a dog.
- Moved to the country.
- Made 6 episodes of a kid’s TV series.
- Started a teeny-weeny apparel sample business.
- Opened an ETSY shop!
- Knitted a lot.
- Sewed A LOT!
- Swore a lot. (My cuss jar is brimming.)
When I lived in the South, I had a nifty little online shop. “Hot Tin Roof” sold original, handmade bags. Since I got home, I’ve really missed the handmade lifestyle and the sense of community that Etsy provides. As you can see from the side bar, I’ve decided to reprise the idea! I’ve given Pearl*s a little make-over and look forward to expanding the content to include a variety of handmades (including, of course, LOTS of knitting.) Watch for the new knitting bags, project bags and tool kits coming soon!
Since last we met (though free time has been short), I’ve knitted myself silly! Check my KnitMeter! I’m at 3 1/2 miles and more to come! The most important current project (and the one with the craziest deadline) is the Irish Birthday Cardigan.
Last year, I decided to start a tradition of knitting Carl a Birthday Sweater every year. As luck would have it, his birthday is December 19 :-/ To top things off, men’s sweaters are BIG and he’s not a small guy. Last year, I was smart and ordered 1000 yards of Berrocco Ultra Alpaca in Charcoal and started in July. This year…not so much. Last year, I undertook a big, fancy, super-cable-y, Aran cabled job. This year…not so much. I started in November, struggling to find a pattern that looked a little fancy and had the retro feel that he’s so fond of. Here’s what we came up with:
Cool, huh? I love vintage knitting patterns. For yarn, I jumped on an old favorite: Cascade 220. This color is that strange, 50’s, lemon-grass-ey shade favored by guys like Mr. Rogers, Richard Burton and Judge Hardy 😀
What is it, the 8th today? Holy smokes, I’m not even halfway done…

You’re Back!!! I thought you’d given up forever! So glad to welcome you back to the blog world. I’d imagine that you’ve got lots to share, if I had to recap all that’s happened in my life since May it would take many, many thousands of words.
Again, so glad to welcome you back.
Pearl
Yay, Garret!! I sure missed you! Rest assured I’ve been following your every post 🙂 Wow, you are a MANIACAL knitter, my friend! I’ve got the EZ book…perhaps in the new year I’ll do the saddle sweater!

Well now, you beat me back to blogging! Love your welcome back post though. I’ve heard, when you get busy the first thing to go is the blog and you have been BUSY! Love all of it. 🙂

Thanks, Cindy! Can’t wait til More Like June makes a comeback! I bet you’re crazy-busy with the little ones right about now! Hope you enjoyed your trip to the UK. I’ll be doing another kid’s show in the city in January, so hopefully we’ll get in some quality knitting time then 🙂
