Good morning, knitters! I write to you from the big, drippy, thunder and lightening infused puddle that is New Orleans this morning. I love rainy days! I got up early, put on my big yellow rain slicker and walked out for coffee in the midst of it. Look who was waiting for me at my local Whole Foods! I brought him home and named him Harry!
Today, I’d like to welcome a new shawl, Cumulus, which is part of the Radiance Collection recently released by Knit Picks. I am genuinely pleased to be part of this lovely collection of small simple shawls and so happy with the work of Kate D., sample knitter extraordinaire. Kate and I worked very closely on Cumulus and I’m so grateful for her openness and expertise!
Timeless designs and beautiful details shine in this stunning yet understated collection. Radiance: Knit Accessories features twelve lovely pieces to wrap yourself in, whether dressing up casuals or adding a final touch to an evening ensemble. Sometimes in knitting, it’s the little things that can make the biggest impact: delicate edging, enchanting lace, or subtle shifts in color. A balance of straightforward stitches and elegant silhouettes, the patterns in this collection are approachable yet offer just enough intricacy to keep knitters inspired.
Delicate stippled tones worked against a background of natural creamy white create the misty palette essential for the Cumulus Shawl. Bands of puffy garter stitch flanked by smooth valleys of stockinette energize the fabric’s surface using only the most basic stitches.
Cumulus is a semi-circular shawl with yarn over increases placed just inside the garter edge. An easy-to-memorize edging uses directional decreases to coax the garter stripes into cloudy rippled waves.
I was thrilled to be working with Hawthorne once again. The hand of this yarn is very soft and yielding, but the twist is what I like best. It has a very defined hosiery twist that serves for durable socks and drapey shawls as well. Hawthorne is available in Multi, Tonal, Kettle Dyed and Speckle Hand Paint, the yarn used in Cumulus, as well as many curated value packs. The colors are just spectacular.
I hope you’ll enjoy all twelve designs included in this pretty collection. The beautiful book is available on the Knit Picks website and patterns are available individually on Ravelry. Bye for now!
Love,
Cheryl
