I’m so excited for this latest launch and I’m so proud to be part of the Hudson+West Deep Winter collection. It is my first collaboration with the wonderful folks at Hudson + West Co. who have released a line of sublime new yarns. Working with Sloane and Meghan has been a really lovely experience and I think it shows in this new shawl, Craghill.
I wanted to make a shawl to showcase the restrained and sophisticated palette that H+W has chosen to mark their first year, but I also wanted to explore the natural beauty of their new neutrals.
Craghill is an interesting mixture of techniques; you’ll find a little eyelet work, some stripes, some homely garter stitch and a really exciting mosaic stitch that is guaranteed to engage knitters of all levels. Though Craghill is generous in size, you’ll find it knits up quickly because of its “sampler-like” nature.
A super fun, addictive slip stitch pattern is the main event in the Craghill Shawl. Little cubes appear like tiny pillows on a wide swathe of thin stripes that shrink and swell. Borders and bands of garter stitch add structure and graphic control to this exuberant three-color fabric while two row stripes contribute an element of order.
But Craghill is really about the yarn. A luxurious blend of Merino and Corriedale, their two flagship bases, Weld and Forge, are toothy yet soft, wooly and silky all at the same time. They are spun to a demi-worsted twist which combines the best qualities of worsted and woolen spun yarns. I’m telling you, this yarn is a real treat!
I hope you’ll enjoy the Craghill Shawl and I really hope you’ll explore the beauty of the new Hudson+West yarns! As a celebratory gesture, I’m offering the Craghill pattern at 30% off in my Ravelry shop during launch weekend. Offer ends at midnight Sunday, February 2. Use the coupon code HWWINTER at checkout.
Love,
Cheryl
