Hi! I’m a new knitter (knitting since August) and I’m obsessed with making hats. I have been lurking around your lovely website for a few months now, especially since you tantalized us with your first picture of this True North hat. It’s really amazing (I kid you not, it appeared in my dream a few weeks ago) and it’s going to be the first pattern I ever spend money on, and my first colorwork ever. Thank you so much for your effort and the inspiration it has provided. I haven’t bought the pattern yet since I have a question: I’m wondering if your pattern explains any modifications necessary for worsted-weight yarn and size 8 circulars? That’s all I own at present, and it would be nice to try out my first fair isle colorwork on familiar yarn and needles. Presumably I’d cast on fewer stitches and do fewer repeats of the tree chart; is that all there is to it? Or is there some reason why this pattern wouldn’t work except with DK yarn and size 3 needles?
