Hurray for our side! I’ve finally managed to get the Barn Swallow Fingerless Mitts written and published to Ravelry this morning, meaning there is one more quick, pretty, fun knit available in the knitter-verse! Thank-you, Michelle, for test knitting. She chose the Wampum colorway.
These fancy little warmers are deceptively easy to make and they use only 200-ish yards of yarn. Although almost any fingering/sport weight yarn would do, I used Quince and Co. Tern in the Beach Glass colorway. Despite swearing I wouldn’t be doing any Christmas knitting this year, I made a pair for Mumsie in Shibui Staccato, their merino/silk blend. This is a dynamite yarn and they turned out very pretty and silky, although Staccato knits to a slightly finer gauge than does Tern. I started my first pair, the pair I wear almost every day, in the booth at CreativFestival back in October and since then have received lots of questions about the pattern and its release date. Well…today’s the day! Start ’em today, wear ’em tomorrow 😀
