I‘m feeling like I’m behind. I think it’s the weather. It is beautiful! There is no snow, it’s been warm…it just doesn’t feel the way it should at 10 or 11 days before Christmas. Anyway, this week I’ve decided I’m just going to blitz it. I’ll just work my butt off on Christmas things this week and hopefully be back on track by the weekend, with a calm, happy smile on my face for Carl’s right-before-Christmas-Birthday.
So. Where we at?
- Birthday Sweater/Vest: It is OFF the needles! It has had its first bath. <whew> This yarn is incredibly sheep-y. It came out of the Eucalan Lavender smelling like a wet dog leaving very murky water in the sink. Gosh, I hope it smells better after its final blocking, otherwise Carl will draw predators. This afternoon I hope to add the collar, button band and pocket edges. I’m at the mercy of the mail for the after-thought i-cord buttonholes, however. Provided the foregoing happens according to plan, button delivery will be the only thing standing between me and a finished object.
- Decorating: Got the tree done last night! Picked up an ENORMOUS poinsettia and an outdoor wreath from Lockyer’s Country Gardens yesterday. (BTW…if you’re local to PEC, I highly recommend Lockyer’s. It is HEAVEN!) Picking up fresh boughs from Belleville tomorrow to finish up interior decor and add some color to the outside of the house.
- Last Minute Shopping: Ugh. By the end of the week, I swear.
- Wrapping: On the fly, as usual.
- Christmas Knitting: I know. I said I wasn’t doing any this year but…oh boy, I just had to do one or two little things or it simply wouldn’t feel like Christmas. Obviously, I can’t share details but I’m feeling pretty good about it!
- Work Knitting: YAY! The Barn Swallow Fingerless Mitts pattern will be released on Thursday! These are quick and fun and are perfect for a last-minute quickie gift knit or something to keep you busy in the car/plane on your way to your Mom’s.
Y’know…I’m feeling better! Thanks for listening!
Oh! I almost forgot! The new needle cases and project bags are available at Rosehaven! I love the new needle case; it’s thinner and easier to carry, yet holds the same number of circular needles, interchangeable needle tips and accessories as the other style! Also, there are zippered sweater bags and zippered small project bags that are perfect for socks, mittens and kid’s stuff. The fabrics are gorgeous, too. Be sure to check ’em out if you’re in the shop 😉
