Today is the day that I jump into my trusty Saturn and spin down the road to Sterling, NY for a visit with Miss Laura. Laura is a costume designer in New Orleans who cut her teeth designing Renaissance wear for the Sterling Faire. She (wisely) ditches New Orleans in the summer, escaping the summer heat, and returns to her little period A-frame cottage in the woods. Laura and I have been friends for years. She introduced me to the joys of Mardi Gras. We’ve sewn together. We survived Katrina together. Now, those are the ties that bind!
The faire is closed for the year by now, which means we’ll have the run of the charming medieval village. I’m bringing along some very simple knitting, nothing that requires referring to a pattern or chart. I’m going to finish those ribbed socks and just in case I do, I’ve packed some other sock ribbing to do. In fact, I’ve completed the tubular cast-on for the Pucker socks. I did both socks on two separate sets of needles so I wouldn’t forget 🙂 See you Monday with some wonderful pictures!
