If you are more fortunate than others, it is better to build a larger table than a taller fence.
Gosh, I love waking up to the sound of rain on the roof…especially in Canada in the middle of winter. We have two big sky lights in the church loft (which is our bedroom and my office) that amplify whatever is going on outside. Sunny days are brighter, snowy days obscure them entirely, giving the room a cave-ish quality and rainy days are gloriously runny and splashy. When I let out a less-than-impressed Teddy into the dark of the morning, I saw that the rain had almost erased all of the snow, save a few grimy banks. <happy sigh!> Don’t get too cozy, Cheryl, a new dump is expected to start this evening. We’re under a winter storm watch. That’ll make three Tuesdays in a row we’ve been snow bound; I’m getting used to makin’ groceries on Mondays, I can tell you.
I had a fabulous weekend, thanks for asking! Thanks to everyone who participated in the first ever Free Pattern Friday, the ‘Virtual Church’ played host to over 4,500 visitors during the weekend! I thank you all so very much 🙂 I’m very excited about this week’s project! Without spilling the beans, I can say that it’s a color-block project in two colors worked in worsted weight yarn. It’s a great stash-buster, so better dig out two shades that work and play well together. And don’t forget to join the Free Pattern Friday Ravelry Group HERE.
I had a good deal of knitting time this weekend and so was able to finish my Amaryllis Hat. I can’t wait to wear it, so perhaps there’s a silver lining behind that big ‘ol snow storm cloud. I guess you’re all probably tired of me singing the praises of Mary Ann Stephens, so suffice to say that Amaryllis was a perfect knit, as usual. I’m so happy I knit the red facing and doesn’t it look pretty blocking on Grandma’s dinner plate?
Amongst all the other lovely weekend things, I had the pleasure of a nice visit, albeit short, with the awesome Amy, my friend the Sock Diva, who turned me on to this! Gobstopper is a hand-dyed, color changing yarn in a few different blends including Merino and, did I read that right…yak? It is dyed by hand in Peterborough Ontario.
If it ever stops snowing, I’m going to throw myself, my dog and my husband into the car and go get me some! It can be found at Needles in the Hay in Peterborough.
