Palouse Revisited

Remember this? I am particularly fond of this pretty pattern published in Knitscene, January 2018.

GENTLE MOVEMENT AND INTRIGUING LACE EDGING ARE THE HALLMARKS OF THIS WHIMSICAL SWING TOP. WITH 0” OF POSITIVE EASE AT THE BUST, THE PALOUSE TOP IS TRIM AND FITTED AT THE TOP AND UPPER SLEEVE, THEN FLARES TO CREATE A WONDERFUL TRAPEZE SHAPE AT THE HEM. A SILKY YARN HELPS TO CREATE SWISH AND FLOW IN THE FABRIC, MAKING PALOUSE AN ADAPTABLE LAYERING PIECE. AIRINESS AND OPENNESS IS ACHIEVED WITH EASY BUTTERFLY LACE AT THE EDGES.

Palouse Top

I am especially happy that the Palouse Top has been knitted by some very talented and tasteful knitters on Ravelry. MingleYarns worked her Palouse in the super luxurious Hazel Knits Entice, a merino cashmere blend in the gorgeous Low Tide colorway.

MingleYarns modified the shaping strategy of the body section creating a more gradually tapered hem.

Marie also added a little elastic thread to the inside of the neckline to keep it from slipping off her shoulders.

JuleKnitting worked her Palouse in Manos del Uruguay Alegria, the recommended yarn for this project, but chose the Tahiti colorway in deep ocean shades. Really, I prefer this stronger colorway to the Musgo of the original sample.

JuleKnitting captured some really great detail shots of the butterfly lace that graces the edges of the Palouse top. This pretty stitch pattern is worked and blocked to perfection in this piece.

Thanks so much JuleKnitting and MingleYarns for choosing to knit Palouse and for injecting the pattern with such great taste, expertise and style!
