Moving Right Along!

Isn’t it amazing? The arrival of September is an absolute surprise to me. The summer has flown by and I’m in a bit of denial about it. However, a girl must move forward. I’m off to Annapolis today to spend the weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Miss Laura and I will be visiting friends and checking out some guest booths for Royal Rags. I know that summer lingers a little longer there, which suits me just fine (though it is predicted to remain warm here through the weekend anyway).

New Classes

If you’re a newsletter subscriber, you’ve already learned about some great new things that will be happening this fall. On September 24, I’ll be visiting Wool-Tyme in Ottawa to teach 2 classes, Introduction to 2-Color Brioche in the morning and Knitting in the Round in the afternoon. You might recall that Miss Elizabeth and I visited Wool-Tyme early this spring. It is an incredible shop with miles of well organized inventory. I can’t wait to get there, for the shopping alone! If you’re in the Ottawa area, you can register by calling Wool-Tyme at 613-225-9665.

In October, I’ll be at KnitTraders, Kingston for two dates, October 1 for the fabulous 8-hour Knitter’s Crash Course and October 29 for Toes-Up! Two at a Time Toe Up Socks. Anne and Trish are doing some really amazing things at KnitTraders this year. They’ve organized a stellar line of classes, as well as assembling an incredible group of bloggers to enhance the shop’s blog. In addition to teaching at KnitTraders, I’ll be contributing a Style File post where I choose a popular sweater pattern, make a clever yarn substitution, then style the sweater with wardrobe pieces. I’ve enjoyed writing the posts and I hope you’ll check them out. My next post appears Monday, September 12. Call the shop to register, 613-384-3951.

Free Pattern Friday

Free Pattern Friday will continue to the end of the year! I have some wonderful sample knitters who have generously agreed to help me with this amazing creative challenge. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Annette, Gidget, Christine and Gay. There is no new pattern today owing to the short week and the fact that I am traveling, but look for a doozy next week 😉 There will be some changes, however. Starting next week, FPF patterns will be free for a limited time rather than free forever. Also, I’ve figured a way for knitters to download the patterns as pdfs, though FPF patterns will remain as off-site Ravelry downloads. Watch for details in the Free Pattern Friday Ravelry group and in FPF blog posts.

New Products

Through the fall and winter, I’ll be adding new products to the Shop. Of course, there will be project bags, notions bags and needle cases, but I’ll be adding a couple of fashion items too. The Loyalist Messenger Bag and the Brighton Cross-Body Bag will be new items in the shop this fall. In addition, you’ll be able to shop the fashion items at THE GENERAL in Wellington, a very cool new general store/mercantile on Main St. Look for some yummy new fabrics as well!

The Podcast

Little Church: The Podcast will be returning this fall on a bi-weekly basis. After our maiden voyage this past spring, I have a better idea of the direction I’d like the podcast to take. Watch for more video tutorials and interviews in the upcoming year! For podcast updates, be sure to follow the blog or find the LittleChurch Knits channel HERE.

I think that’s all the news that’s fit to print! See y’all next week!
