Truly, I am addicted. Given the choice between socks and a lace shawl, I’ve chosen the latter as the alternate life for my single skein of TOFUtsies. Thank you, Birgit Freyer, for this lovely, lazy pattern, which is very easy to knit but looks like a million bucks. I’m determined to try more of her amazing patterns.
This is a funny little yarn. Blended from superwash wool, soy by-products from tofu production and chitin, this unusual aggregate is becoming a little hard to get, though it appears to have made a huge splash on the market initially, spawning numerous KAL’s and its own Sock Club. It handles very nicely and has an attractive sheen once worked.
Having knit a couple of triangular-shaped lace shawls, I was eager to try something circular or semi-circular for the obvious shaping and blocking challenges. As a sewer, I know that the long curved edge will bring about a lovely drape. I’m about 3/4 through the main body of the shawl; the rather curious shape is beginning to emerge. I’m really hoping that the tiny stripes in this yarn will begin to follow the curved line as they do in the picture (thank you, dashulkin, for the great photo). In hindsight, I probably should have chosen a yarn with a longer color-change. Can’t wait to start the lace edging!

YOU KNIT THAT? I am not worthy. If I tried that, it would look like the cat had gotten to it and there would be a lot of tears, screaming and swearing.
