Good morning, everyone! Happy Friday! Here we are in the post-Christmas, pre-Mardi Gras doldrums. For me, that means the inevitable yearly “finish-or-frog” process where I reclaim yarn, needles and stitch markers that have languished in forgotten project bags. It’s a palette-cleansing time of year and, to my mind, hats are the perfect palette-cleansing project. Today, I’d like to encourage hat knitting by offering a little discount on five popular hat patterns from my Ravelry store. That’ll be fun, right?!?
Diana
Diana is a soft and comfortable slouchy hat that features pretty cables along the brim. These interesting details give Diana an elegant, pulled together look that makes for a fun and challenging knit. Shown here in Quince & Co Chickadee, a puffy, fluffy 100% wool, the Diana hat provides warmth as well as charm. Diana is worked in the round from the brim up using your preferred method of working in the round with a variable amount of slouchiness.
Sackets Harbor
During my summer sojourns, Sacket’s Harbor is the first signpost once I’ve left the interstate. It’s a quiet gem, the first leg of the Seaway Trail, and offers gorgeous, cool Lake Ontario vistas. It has a slightly retro vibe with roadside bars and cafes closed years ago by the building of I-81. I love it, and I often fantasize about how it must look in the off-season, foggy and damp with big fat snowflakes falling on icy waters. That’s my inspiration for the Sackets Harbor Hat. This hat, suitable for men and women, is a simple stranded knitting project, knit in the round, and perfect for the first-time fair isle knitter.
Fresh Snow
There is something so elegant about classic aran knitting. Strong, raised lines criss-cross to create surface movement while deep textures, like timeless moss stitch, add warmth and richness. Today’s pattern, the Fresh Snow Hat, presents a clean and striking diamond and moss cable accented with whimsical bobbles to create a bold motif. What a beautiful gift set this is when worked alongside the matching mittens! This hat is worked upward from the brim and finishes with an applied I-cord edge. Shaping is worked cleverly into the cable background lending a smooth, seamless look to the classic ‘tam’ styling.
True North
Snowflakes falling on piney woods, pick-up hockey on frozen ponds, hot chocolate and crackling fires are all recalled in the new True North Hat. Whimsical and retro with a distinctly Canadian vibe, True North combines simple stranded knitting with smooth fields of stockinette and easy shaping to create a perfect first fair isle project. And the silky-soft tweedy texture really looks like it’s snowing!
Hay Bay
Everyone needs a classic toque, especially one that’s knit in fresh, bright, snowy fair isle. The Hay Bay Hat is a super simple stranded pattern, perfect for the first-time color work knitter. A deep, double fold ribbed brim provides extra warmth around the ears for those frosty days, while a roomy cap prevents hat head. A big fluffy pompom tops the whole thing off. It’s quick, easy and fun to knit and fun to give as a gift as well!
