The First Class Hoodie
Traveling this summer? Why not knit a hoodie? I’m thinking of airports and airplanes and their crazy temperature variations. I’m also thinking about camping and early mornings at the lakeside. An easy fitting hand knit hoodie is just the thing to keep you cozy. The First Class Hoodie is 30% off in my Ravelry shop this week, no coupon required!
It’s a great look for travel!
What could be simpler and more comfortable than a classic drop shoulder hoodie? The easy fitting construction of the First Class Hoodie allows for a tee or tank underneath. Extra length creates a long smooth line. The First Class Hoodie is an everyday piece that layers nicely over a T-shirt, jeans, or even leggings. An elegantly simple eyelet rib pattern features prominently and provides some knitting intrigue. The hood, a beautiful and practical addition, is attached with a three-needle bind-off.
There’s still time to knit a hoodie!
Here in South Louisiana, knitters get a little sad at the end of sweater season so I think southern knitters will have some fun knitting a hoodie too! This is a beginner knit packed with simple stitches and go-to techniques like a three-needle bind off, Kitchener Stitch and a perpendicular sleeve join. If you are a first time sweater knitter, the First Class Hoodie is for you!
Pick your color!
When it’s time to knit a hoodie, you’ll want a real workhorse, the go-to sweater you grab everyday. Fields of clean stockinette worked to a stable gauge are edged with a simple but feminine eyelet pattern. This adds a touch of “pretty” and gives the knitter a little something fun to do. Clean lines and simple techniques open up the world for color play, too. Picture it in any of the many gorgeous shades of Quince & Co Chickadee like sky blue, indigo and especially, winesap red!
Let’s cast on!
The First Class Hoodie is worked seamlessly from the bottom up. The sleeves are picked up along the armhole edge and feature a clean and easy perpendicular join. Short rows shape the back neck. The hood is worked separately then joined using a three needle bind off to create stability at the neck edge.
I wish you joy in all your travels this summer, but before you go, knit a hoodie!
