Good morning, knitters! We’ve made it through the first two weeks of January. That means we’re half way through “Resolution Season”! Only two weeks remain before we can go back to our old eating habits, procrastination and knitting “just one more row” at 3 am. Right?!?
That’s the way I’m rolling these days, “just one more row”. I’m in the final test knit of the True North Mittens which I’m hoping to release next Friday. They’re a sweet little set of mittens to match the True North Hat that came out last week. December and January have really been all about hats and mittens for me. They’re so portable and quick and there are so many variations. I have a folder full of great ideas. So many ideas, so little time!

In case you missed it, I released the Zephyr Hat & Cowl Set several weeks ago, but didn’t feel the photos did it justice. It’s a soft and lovely set that is so quick and easy it could just about be done in a weekend.
Zephyr features a very simple lace pattern, intuitive and easy to memorize. It’s a traditional combination of knits and yarn overs that has been in use for many years. It has a sweetness about it that comes from its simplicity and its gentle meandering lines.
The cowl is a simple once-around ring edged in ribbing. The hat is slouchy and round and trimmed with a pompom. I’ve used a pretty fur one, but there will be sufficient yardage to make a matching one from yarn if you prefer. Worked in the ever popular Berroco Ultra Alpaca whose dreamy softness and delicate halo never fail to delight me, Zephyr is whispery light yet warm as toast.
