It’s All in the Bag

2D Zoo by Alexander Henry

I’m so crazy about the fabric designs of Alexander Henry, it’s pathetic. Hypernoodle on Etsy has a great selection of AH along with Michael Miller and others!

When I lived in New Orleans, I had a little handbag shop on Etsy called Hot Tin Roof. Gosh, I love making bags…almost as much as I love knitting. Recently, I’ve felt the need for the perfect knitting bag and, at present, am creating a little wish list in my brain for all of the assets the perfect knitting bag would have. For starters, it would open up wide and stay open, shut up tight and stay shut. It would be BIG. A ton of interior pockets is a given. A ton of exterior pockets….also a given. It would have both hand straps and a shoulder strap. It would have a matching little zippered gadget bag. Maybe it would coordinate with a needle roll or a needle book. And on and on; the list is long. Most importantly, the fabric would be perfect. That’s where Spoonflower comes in.

I’ve been dying to try Spoonflower for the longest time. It’s an online fabric shop, for sure, but better yet, Spoonflower offers reasonably priced fabric printing! They will print your original fabric designs on your choice of 9 different fabric types including quilting weight Kona cotton, linen-cotton canvas, heavy cotton twill, even silk crepe de chine, start at only $16.20 per yard. Spoonflower uses only eco-friendly textile dyes and processes and provides a ton of on-line support for file uploads, color choices, design repeats and more. How much fun are these:

Me, three! I’m always looking for the perfect bag. Love those fabrics!! I’m not the best seamstress, but I can handle straight seams okay. I made a cute knitting bag for a friend and keep thinking I should make one for myself, but I’ve already got too many knitting projects going now. I need more hours in the day!!

And when you’ve designed the perfect knitting bag I’ll take two! Because it sounds amazing. Plus seeing your handbags i know it’ll be a looker too. Seriously, those handbags are so french, so lovely…

I'd love to hear from you!
