This is the scene on my living room floor, in real time, as we speak. Haruni is stretching her limbs after a nice long Eucalan bath. The last row (crochet bind-off) of this pattern was the craziest row of knitting I’ve ever done. Took forever. It was worth it, though, adding all of those clever little loops to the bottom edge of the shawl. I can’t imagine what the alternative I-cord bind-off must be like!
This fun little project (?) came off the needles this morning after about a week of frenzied, obsessive knitting looking like this. Then, into the Eucalan. Can I mention how much I love Eucalan Lavender? It has an enchantingly soft, light fragrance and naturally guards against moths. I was surprised at how soothed and relaxed the wool/silk fibers became after soaking and how much the work grew while absorbing water. Eucalan can be purchased in bottles of various sizes or in these cute little single use packets. Aren’t these great for enclosing with knitted gifts? They come in several fragrances and cost less than one dollar.
If there was ever a case for blocking wires, this is it. Unfortunately, my LYS has stopped carrying them and I was in no mood to wait for an order from Knit Picks. Quite a job of work, pinning out all those loops. I’m sure it’s not symmetrical; perhaps I’ll give it a gentle shot of steam before all is said and done.
I had a bunch of stuff on my slate for today. Errands, cleaning, laundry, etc. It’s a little rainy, damp and cloudy. I’ve decided to clear my schedule and knit. Laugh if you want, but I’ve got enough yarn to knit the Holden!

Gorgeous scarf! And is that Rosalind Russell – one of my favorite actresses!
Pearls-Toronto
Indeed, it is Rosalind Russell! This still is from one of my all-time favorite films, “The Women” from 1939.

oh my lord. How on earth did you finish that in a week. That is amazing. Just amazing! My simple scarf is taking me months :D. It looks so beautiful! Well done – you should be very very proud…

I know that this probably isn’t the purpose of this post, but what movie is that picture up top from. It looks like it was from The Women.
Beautiful Job, truly stunning.
Pearls-Toronto
Thanks, Garret! Though there is knitting in “The Women” (my all time favorite film, by the way) this film still is from “Mr. Lucky” 1943 in which Cary Grant attempts to knit for the war effort. If you like, check out the Classic Knit-Flix page on my blog..you’ll find a number of films with knitting in them! More to come soon as I get a minute 🙂

How gorgeous! Did it ever relax and grow with the bath, indeed! I was shocked with my first block last year at how much the fibre changed. Happy shocked.
What a job pinning that thing, though.
But great job. She’s going to love it.
