Cheryl’s knitting world has been jumping with fun this past week and there’s no let-up in sight! Let’s see…where shall I begin? First of all, the photo above has been my color inspiration this week. I’ve been ordering yarn!
Introducing…!
If you follow LittleChurch on Facebook or Twitter, you already know about two new classes scheduled to take place this spring in new and exciting venues!
First up, on May 21, Knit to Fit is back! Wouldn’t it be great to confidently knit a garment, knowing it will look and feel great? Knit to Fit focuses on creating knits that fit perfectly and flatter absolutely. We’ll learn the correct method for taking body measurements and how to apply them to pattern schematics. We’ll learn to make basic pattern modifications and yarn substitutions, too. The class will be hosted by the bright and shiny Baxter Arts Centre in Bloomfield. I’m really excited to be using this venue; The Baxter has had an interesting past and has been renovated with a great deal of love and commitment by community members. To register, click the BUY NOW link in the sidebar or email me at cheryl@littlechurchknits.com.
Next, LittleChurch heads down the Big Road to Kingston. On Saturday, June 11, Knit Traders will present “Toes Up! Two-at-a-Time Socks”. Starting with Judy’s Magic Cast-on and continuing through the super fun and easy Fleegle Heel, this intermediate class is sure to intrigue and inspire sock knitters of all stripes. To register, click the BUY NOW link in the sidebar or email me at cheryl@littlechurchknits.com. I’m delighted to be working with Anne and the clever folks at Knit Traders in Kingston. In addition to teaching, I’ll be contributing a quarterly “Style” post to the Knit Traders blog. Watch for it starting Monday, May 23!
If you’re in the Ottawa area, there are two classes scheduled for Saturday, September 24…Two-Color Brioche and Knitting in the Round. I’ll be bringing you more details closer to the date along with details of a brand spankin’ new educational product set to launch on Monday, September 5! Stay tuned!
Ta-Da!
I haven’t just been sitting at the computer, you know! Friday, May 6, just in time for car and cottage knitting season, will see the launch of not one but TWO new sock patterns, both in worsted weight yarns for ease and speed. The “Maypole” for ladies and the “Poppa” for gents are easy, fun and fast to knit in heavier weight yarns. Both feature the Fleegle heel and both are just perfect for first time sock knitters. You’ll hear about it here on the blog and also in the Free Pattern Friday Ravelry group.
…And Speaking of Free Pattern Friday…
I have some new yarns and some sneak peeks! I’ve been experimenting this week with some of the lovely natural cottons, linens and blends offered by Knit Picks, and fitting them into the Free Pattern Friday calendar. For local knitters…I find I need a little help. If you’re close-ish to Prince Edward County, LittleChurch needs sample knitters for simple projects. Message me at cheryl@littlechurchknits.com if you’re interested.
Everyone seems to be intrigued by this color lately, and almost every big company has offerings in this shade. This is ‘Lichen’ at Knit Picks, but I know that it’s ‘Honey’ at Quince & Co. Funny shade, eh? I’m not sure what to make of it, but Elizabeth has a good deal of success with it when combined with various blues.
This is my first kick at the can with Shine, Knit Picks cotton/modal blend. They call it a sport, but I think it weighs in more like a DK. I love this color, ‘Platinum’, a warm, beige-y gray. What could Cheryl be making, I wonder??
Here’s a sneak peek at this week’s FPF offering:
Curiouser and curiouser!
Upcoming…
Honestly, I could go on and on but I’d better jump to Fun-Stuff-Yet-to-Come…
This weekend in Toronto: Knitter’s Frolic hosted by the Toronto Knitter’s Guild! This is just the BEST! It’s a buffet of the precious and special and unusual and I cannot WAIT! To add to the fun, I’ll be riding the Purlin’ J shuttle with Elizabeth McCarten and other knitting luminaries. If I ever come home, I’ll let you know all about it!
Next WIP Wednesday, I’ll be laying out my plans for Winery Knitting…Saturdays in May and June. Don’t miss it.
Christine
