What perfect, bite-sized projects are fingerless mitts! They’re absolutely right for this time of year, too. Fingerless mitts are great stashbusters, using up those last little bits of winter wool, and they make awesome gifts. You can make up a couple of pairs on the weekend and toss them in your “gifting basket” for upcoming holidays or birthdays.
Today, I’d like to showcase these two sweet knitty bites. I’m offering two fingerless mitt patterns this week, Ebb Tide and the brand new Bumble. They’re 30% off in my Ravelry shop through Friday, April 1, 2022. Use the coupon code NOFINGERS! at checkout.
BUMBLE
*BUMBLE is brand-spankin’ new!* What could be more fun than a cable with eyelets and bobbles? How ‘bout a cable that reminds you of a bumble bee in flight? Enter Bumble, the best fun you can have with under 60 g of worsted weight yarn. These engaging fingerless mitts work up in a trice and make a great stashbuster. Bumble features a fully fashioned thumb gusset, stockinette palm and ribbed edges. Make a pair on the weekend and start a second pair as a gift!
Bumble features an intuitive cable that looks much more difficult than it actually is. With eyelets, bobbles and pretzel twists, this stitch pattern evokes the movement of a bumble bee as it pauses and flits from plant to plant. Since the palms and thumbs of these fingerless mitts are plain stockinette, it’s extra fun to have an engaging section to keep you interested.
You can truly knit these in a weekend. Choose a new favorite skein or use up the remnants of an old one, tune in to some binge-worthy TV and cast on tonight!
EBB TIDE
These fingering weight mitts are back in my catalogue having been published in Knitscene back in 2019. They are the perfect project for that skein of souvenir sock yarn, once again featuring bobbles as a center of interest.
Crashing waves of thickly textured cables crest along the back of the Ebb Tide fingerless mitts. Whimsical bobbles form the focal point of these unusual cables. They’re super fun to knit while creating eddies of interesting movement along the back and cuff. On the palm lies an equalling compelling arched gusset from which springs the thumb.
So set aside some knitting time this weekend as you wait for the warm spring breezes to blow away the snow.
