Favorite Fingerless Mitts

Good morning, knitters! It’s become quite cool here over the past couple of days and, though we never need quite the outdoor wear that is necessary up north, there are a couple of things that are indispensable. One of those things is, of course, hats and the other is fingerless mitts. I just love ’em because I still have full use of my fingers while my hand is toasty warm.

I also love them because their such a quick and easy thing to design. They’re a great vehicle for every kind of stitch pattern and make a wonderful backdrop for beads and other types of decor. They’re kind of the amuse-bouche of knitting! Over the years, I’ve published a couple of patterns like Raspberry Dash and Swallow Tail patterns that were a part of my Free Pattern Friday series. Those patterns are still free, by the way, along with a whole bunch of other treats. Just click on the Forever Free tab at the top of this page.

I’ve got my personal favorites, too. I made this pair, the Bibliogloves, from a pattern by Elizabeth McCarten. They’re tiny and quick and just right and I absolutely loved making them!

Diana Hat

Lately, I’ve been working on a pair of fingerless mitts to match my popular Diana Hat. I’ve been mulling this one over for quite some time and don’t feel like I’ve quite got it. I think I’ll be ripping back and simplifying. Simplicity is one of my favorite things about the Diana Hat.

These may wind up being my plane knitting for the trip to Costa Rica. Perhaps I can find someone to do a super quick test knit then release them in early January. It’s likely I’ll need them by then!

Isn’t this a beautiful pair? These are the Beaded Fingerless Mitts by Jemima Bicknell. They’re so fresh and feminine! They’d be a great gift.

If it’s chilly where you are, don’t forget! The Colony Cowl, the Dalrymple Cowl and the Yew Tree Cowl are featured projects this week and are 50% off until Friday, December 14, 2018. Also, the new Sackets Harbor Hat is free when you purchase the mittens. There you go! Lots of good reasons to knit something toasty this week!

I'd love to hear from you!
