Knit with Linen

Fabulous Features

Good morning, knitters! After a weekend of high temperatures and high humidity (I didn’t actually feel dry for about three days!) it is blessedly cool and crisp this morning. I needed a sweater to go out for coffee this morning and I thought you might too! Today, I’m beginning a one-week Sweater Sale that features a 50% discount on five popular sweater patterns valid through Monday, March 4.

Martha Cardigan

Martha is my all-time favorite sweater both to knit and to wear! Lightweight and relaxed, the Martha Cardigan makes the perfect go-to spring sweater. A classic straight shape and cropped length makes layering over blouses, T-shirts and dresses easy and stylish while a touch of patterning at the hem (including some whimsical bobbles!) makes her a dream to knit.

Martha

This cardigan is a very easy knit; it is a seamless, top-down raglan that can be tried on for fit at any time. It is the perfect “first-time” sweater project. The Martha Cardigan can be knit in just about any DK weight yarn, although a woolen spun choice – like Rowan Felted Tweed, Jamieson & Smith Shetland yarns or Diamond Highland – give this sweater its airy quality.

Maizie Pullover

Maizie is a sweet, simple lightweight sweater designed to be knit in easy wearing linen. Maizie is worked seamlessly from the lacy yoke down and features a rolled edge with twisted ribbing. A wide picture neckline and 3/4 length sleeves complete this hip summer sweater.

Though Maizie can be knitted in any fingering weight yarn, linen yarn is so crisp and cool in the hand and creates garments that are dry and comfortable to wear while providing excellent drape. The boho paisley-inspired lace motif is a pleasure to knit in linen. Its stiffness imparts a very rustic and natural quality to the openwork stitches yet creates superb drape through the fields of flat stockinette. And it gets softer each time it is laundered, taking on a brushed, suede-like quality with age. Style Maisie with everything from soft cotton skirts to shorts and jeans for an effortless summer look.

Caroline Cardigan

With the Caroline Cardigan, I’ve aimed for a feminine feel with modern versatility. A simple raglan with a slightly slouchy shape and low V-neck speaks to a vintage sensibilty that could readily be styled with well-laundered retro dresses and square, collarless blouses. Hemmed picot neck, sleeve and buttonband edges dress up jeans and T-shirts.
A simple open stitch pattern creates an airy layering piece that’s perfect between seasons, particularly when worked in a tender yarn like Millamia Naturally Soft Merino.

Caroline Cardigan

This V-neck cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down using raglan shaping. Lower edge, cuffs, button and buttonhole bands are hemmed with a serrated edge that incorporates after-thought buttonholes.

Juniper Pullover

A modern twist on traditional seamless yoke provides a sassy backdrop for some fun details in this feminine sweater. Juniper is a great transitional knit and what a fun and easy way to get the most from stripes! While the lightest shade frames the face, multiple shades in kicky stripes curve upward around the yoke, creating a long, slow gradient that grows darker as it reaches the lacy hem.

This swingy, flared silhouette begins with an open neckline. Three-quarter length sleeves are worked downward from the yoke and are also edged in sweet-as-pie cone and fir lace.

Olwen Cardigan

The oversized Olwen Cardigan is motivated by all things sweet and comfy. Danish modern in feel, Olwen combines a clean and striking post modern shape with a soft, winter texture. It is square and spare of form, but with all the rough edges polished off.

Deep woven ribbing edges a subtle pillow-like diamond pattern to create an easy surface energy., while cleverly inset pockets provide striking detail. True to its Hygge inspiration, Olwen features a relaxed drop shoulder that reinforces its clean boxy lines and provides lots of room for layering. I-cord edges the pockets and creates after-thought buttonholes at the front opening.

I hope you’ll enjoy these five selected sweater patterns. Just hop on over to my Ravelry shop, pop your patterns into the shopping cart and enter the coupon code ALLSWEATERS at checkout. Happy knitting!
