Fabulous Features

Good morning, knitters! It’s a rainy day here in New Orleans, certainly chilly enough to wear a hat and cowl with a T-shirt or a light weight sweater. Last night, I finished off my Featherweight Cardigan. It lies a-blocking (next to my newly laundered sneakers).

That leaves me with a little case of Cast-on-itis since I’ve not yet received the yarn for my next project. That got me thinking about those cozy little projects that are so good for this time of year. Portable and quick, these little palette cleansers could just about be done in time to give as gifts this holiday season. Today, I’d like to offer a little discount on 3 cozy projects perfect for knitting in the car, on the train or in front of the TV.

Cockleshells Hat & Cowl

There’s nothing like being wreathed in a snuggly soft hat and cowl once snowy winter sets in! Cockleshells is a relaxed and slouchy hat that covers your ears and sits low on your brow. No hat head here! The matching cowl winds twice around your neck and shoulders, keeping you cozy all winter long. The Cockleshells stitch pattern is fun to knit and interesting enough for seasoned knitters, yet this easy stitch pattern makes a great first lace project. Instructions are given in both written and charted form.

Charlotte Hat & Cowl

A delicate combination of cables and eyelets wend their way gently across the surface of this softly unstructured set. Stockinette panels are punctuated with simple rhythmic double cables and pierced with rick rack openwork columns. Whisper soft with a delicate halo, pure alpaca brings these pretty details to light while its two-ply character adds a certain rustic quality. The hat is slouchy in shape and is topped with a fluffy fur pompom (yarn requirements allow for a matching yarn pompom if you prefer) and the cowl is a generously sized double loop. The Charlotte Hat & Cowl are worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up.

Zephyr Hat & Cowl

There is something impossibly sweet about lacy knitted accessories. I’m always amazed by how warm they remain despite being created from groups of little holes and I love how eyelets fill up with halo.
Zephyr features a very simple lace pattern, intuitive and easy to memorize. It’s a traditional combination of knits and yarn overs that has been in use for many years. It has a sweetness about it that comes from its simplicity and its gentle meandering lines. The cowl is a simple once-around ring edged in ribbing. The hat is slouchy and round and trimmed with a pompom. I’ve used a pretty fur one, but there will be sufficient yardage to make a matching one from yarn if you prefer.

Through Friday, November 1, 2019, I’d like to offer 50% off these selected patterns. Just hop on over to my Ravelry shop, choose your patterns and use the coupon code COZY3 at checkout. I hope you’ll enjoy them!
