Aran Tam with bobbles

Didn’t It Snow!

Oh my goodness! I couldn’t believe it when I watched the evening news last night. I had to confirm it with Mary Jane, my girl on the ground in Prince Edward County. So. Much. Snow!

We’ve just had a wee cold snap during which I was able to wear my Diana Hat in red and my Wild Geese Cowl, but nothin’ like that snow! In between swatches <whew! so many…> Miss Laura and I have been shopping for our Thanksgiving feast and of course, our outfits. As usual, Laura is way ahead of me. I’m glued to my desk with knitting needles popping out of my fists so, of course, I don’t have my dress yet. I’ve got a hat and gloves picked out, but I was hoping to wish up a cute little vintage suit, tweedy with a pencil skirt. Everybody, cross your fingers!

Thanksgiving day is opening day at the Fairgrounds Race Course here and it’s a big deal to dress up and go play the ponies. Our plan is to host a light champagne breakfast at our place, then head over to the track (within walking distance) for the opening bell. My role is to rise with the birds and start dinner. According to my master plan, bird and fixings will be ready when we arrive home in the early afternoon. (Fingers crossed again, please!) We’ll stuff ourselves, then set off to visit all of our favorite bartenders bearing food and Miss Laura’s special cookies. Photos to follow!

In the meantime, in honor of the freshly fallen snow that envelopes many of you, I’d like to offer a little treat for your snow day knitting. My Fresh Snow Hat and Fresh Snow Mittens will be 50% off all week until end of day Friday, November 23, 2018. That means you’ll get the hat and matching mittens for $7.00. They’ll keep you cozy and because they’re worked in worsted weight yarn, they’ll knit up quickly. They also make a fine holiday gift!

There is something so elegant about classic aran knitting. Strong, raised lines criss-cross to create surface movement while deep textures, like timeless moss stitch, add warmth and richness. Today’s pattern, the Fresh Snow Hat, presents a clean and striking diamond and moss cable accented with whimsical bobbles to create a bold motif.

Friend of Littlechurch KnitsWithout further ado, here are the details. Just head over to my Ravelry shop, pop the Fresh Snow Hat and Fresh Snow Mittens into your shopping cart and enter the coupon code SNOWFALL1 at checkout. Then cast on! (Feel free to share a link to this page with your friends, but please don’t give out the coupon code. It helps me a lot when folks come here to visit.) If you like these little discounts (I usually offer them on Friday mornings) and are interested in my work, I’d love to see you over at the new Ravelry group Friends of Littlechurch Knits. Until we meet again, happy knitting!

Look at little Zeke rambling in the snow! Miss you, sweet Zekey!
