Happy Friday, knitters! I hope your week has been as wonderful as mine and I hope your weekend will be too! One of the best things about this week was the lovely Robin Hunter. Robin has been a mentor of mine for a long time and recently, she asked if I’d do an interview for her blog. It was published HERE last week. Thank you, Robin! I am deeply flattered that you chose me!
Miss Laura and I are off to the beach. We’re spending tonight and tomorrow night in Orange Beach which straddles the border of Florida and Alabama. It is also the home of the infamous Floribama beach bar where we intend to spend a considerable amount of time. There is live music and a world famous concoction called a Bushwacker. I think, however, that we will be sticking to a ladylike Pinot Grigio. A girl can walk there along the beach feeling salty and sandy and wearing a swim suit (and in our “advanced” age, a cover-up!). The only rule: you must wear shoes (read flip flops or some such).
Being near the water brings to mind a favorite pattern of mine, the Big Island Wrapper. Though designed for cooler climes, this super soft and absorbent wrap would be perfect, in both color and form, for a weekend on the Gulf Coast. In honor of our mini-vacay, I’m re-publishing that pattern today.
I first published the Big Island Wrapper as part of the Free Pattern Friday series and as an off-site pattern, could not be downloaded and stored in Ravelry libraries. It was not without its problems in the beginning, particularly with pattern language and the slightly tricky brioche sections. I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of years, so the pattern has been given a lovely brush-up and a thorough tech editing and is now available as a free Ravelry download.
The Big Island Wrapper is a triangular wrap in thick absorbent pima cotton. Snug and deeply textured, Big Island is perfect for cool evenings at the beach or by the campfire and has a towel-like coziness when you’re fresh from the lake. The Big Island Wrapper also has a dab of brioche thrown in for excitement during the color transitions to keep things interesting as you work away in easy Andalusian Stitch.
So friends, I hope you’ll enjoy this new incarnation of a favorite pattern! You’ll need no coupon code today, just hop on over to my Ravelry shop, locate the pattern and click on the free Ravelry download button. Your pattern will be stored in your Ravelry library forever and ever. If you like these little discounts (I usually offer them on Friday mornings) and are interested in my work, I’d love to see you over at the new Ravelry group Friends of Littlechurch Knits. Until we meet again, happy knitting!
