Big Fun to Come!

PEC Wassail 2014

It’s fun living in wine country! Prince Edward County is one of Canada’s prime viticultural areas; with it’s rocky soil and open skies, the vines flourish. One of the newest vineyards, and my personal favorite, is Three Dog Winery. It’s right around the corner from The Church! They are so wonderful and friendly and laid back at Three Dog, it’s like dropping in on friends for an afternoon sip 🙂 One of the things I miss most about New Orleans is not having a neighborhood bar. Seems I’ve got one now!

Three Dog Winery

Three Dog Winery 2One chilly Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago, Carl and I stopped in for glass. When I mentioned my upcoming “Mitten Magic” workshop, Miss Sacha was intrigued. She suggested I present a hands-on mitten-knitting demo for the Prince Edward County Vineyards’ Wassail celebration! How much fun is that?!? Knitting-in-bars once more!

I’ll take some yarn, extra needles, my new Mitten Magic pattern and some finished mittens for inspiration. If you’re in the neighborhood, December 6 from 1 – 5pm, c’mon by and have a knit…I can always use a tipsy wing man!

Three Dog Mittens

The yarn of choice for this project is Quince & Co. Osprey, which is Quince’s aran offering. I am in LOVE with this entire line. It’s softness, plumpness and purity make it absolutely lovely to knit and the colors are unbelievable. I love the fact that it is simple, pure wool…nothing added, nothing taken away. I’ve chosen to stick to a limited “Canadiana” palette, using ‘Egret’, ‘Iceland Heather’ and ‘Peak’s Ferry’.

I have two pair left to design…better get on that now. Since we’re on the subject of dogs, here’s a little doggie porn 🙂
