Calling all test knitters! I’m working on a new design and have an open call for testers. This pattern will be published by Brooklyn Tweed in their Winter 2022 collection and it carries a nice, fat discount should you choose to use BT yarn for your test sample. Find details over at Yarnpond.
The Merrill Pullover is a classic cabled pullover that is size inclusive and suitable for all genders. Vintage cabling and double moss texture are highlighted by slick saddle shoulder shaping. A circular motif is echoed and re-echoed in ropey, textured ovals that reverberate as twisted ellipses and honeycomb panels. The pullover is edged all round in 1×1 ribbing and features a hemmed crew neck.
Remember that fisherman’s knit sweater you bought at a thrift store your first year in college? I do! I remember that it was thick and scratchy, slightly felted and warm enough to wear as a coat on milder days. I remember how it smelled and that it was probably made with great love by someone’s grandmother. Merrill is that sweater. Though it is softer and lighter, it is still warm and enveloping, durable and perfect with everything from a pleated skirt to your jammies.
Merrill is worked from the top down beginning with the shoulder “saddles”. Stitches are picked up along the saddle edges and fronts and back are worked downward from there. Short rows are used to shape the sleeve caps which are worked from stitches picked up at armhole edges.
You can find the details of this call over on Yarnpond. If you’re interested in test knitting but not sure it’s right for you, check out my Beta Knitting page.
I hope to hear from you!

Do you have enough beta knitters for Merrill?

Hi Maggie!
Thanks so much for responding. The test is well underway at this point, so I would worry that you wouldn’t be able to complete the project on time. If you’d like to be considered for future test opportunities, I suggest you join my testing pool over on Yarnpond. Yarnpond accounts are free!
Happy knitting!
Cheryl
