Aaaaand….We’re Back!

Happy 2016

Welcome back! And welcome home, 2016. A lot of wonderful things happened to me in 2015, so I think I’m on a bit of a roll 😉 Best to all of you!

Cheryl and Suzie

Teddy-ToddyThe holidays, for all of our clap-trapping about “keeping it low-key” were an absolute gas! We spent good deal of time with friends we haven’t seen in a while, new friends and family. We ate and drank all of the things. This is Carl’s delicious Christmas Breakfast Polenta with roast vegetables topped with crab. Oh my goodness!

Christmas Breakfast

We had something of a Santa hat theme going on…(if you remember, I made the little knitted ones last year…)

Santa's Beer

Santa's Two-Bite BrowniesThis year’s featured Christmas Eve cocktail was “Snow on the Seine” which involved gin, a simple syrup made with Earl Gray tea, a float of champagne on top and a lavender garnish. Mmmmm. I could have gotten waaaaay into them…luckily I stopped just in time!

Snow on the SeineTed was possibly the happiest pooch in the world…

Lucky Dog….and then he got really hung over…

Hung over TeddyAfter the majority of the cooking was done, I had ample time for knitting. I got a whole bunch done, including this really great Jones cardigan by Tin Can Knits. Though I did lots of knitting, I must confess that my photography lags somewhat. I’ll get caught up soon.Jones by Tin Can KnitsWe wrapped up the holidays by getting a little tipsy and making this video. Happy New Year, friends!

Yes, I’m in Canada on an island in Lake Ontario. We actually have had very little snow this year (which is just fine with me 😉 So! Snow on the Seine…In a shaker filled with ice: equal parts gin, lemon juice, Earl Gray tea syrup (follows). Shake and strain into a flute. Top with an oz (or so) of champagne & garnish with a lavender sprig. EARL GRAY SYRUP: In a saucepan: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup boiling water, 1 Earl Gray teabag. Stir to dissolve sugar. Remove teabag and cool. Keeps up to 1 month.
      😀 Enjoy!

Sounds delicious! That’s funny – Lake Erie is about 1/2 mile from my house so I also enjoy (?) Great Lakes winters! I’ve had no snow at my house because I’m on the protected side of the lake and that has been awesome!
