Wrap up in it, snuggle under it, dry off with it. The Cabana Wrap is a shape shifting modified triangle, absorbent and cozy, that looks as good on you as it does poolside thrown over a chaise. Cabana is worked from the wide edge starting with a deep border of vertical open work. Add a cool blue accent and move into some mesmerizing mosaic color work. Garter bands frame a mesh panel, then it’s stockinette in the home stretch. Trim it with a big tassel. This is a soft, cuddly and engaging knit, definitely a wrap to knit today!
Three Engaging Stitch Patterns
You may have noticed, I love juxtaposing casual and folksy stitch patterns with modern yarns, colors and shapes (Early Crocus is another example!) The Cabana Wrap is a shape-shifting modified triangle that uses three engaging pattern sections, mosaic, mesh and drop-stitch rib to create a large, snuggly wrap to knit today.
When combining stitch patterns, I like to start with smooth fields of stockinette stitch. Its evenness and simplicity make fancy stitches sing and provides a lovely neutral backdrop. Stockinette unifies complimentary stitches and creates a baseline against which multiple gauges can be measured. And simple stockinette becomes a showstopper when the yarn is gorgeous!
