A Feather in My Cap

Kreativ Blogger

Well, here’s a feather in my cap! Pearls has been nominated for the Kreativ Blogger award! Many thanks to the delightful Burlesque Baker for her nomination and for her on-going and much appreciated support. If you haven’t visited BB, do so now for  a glimpse of her madcap, retro journey through the kitchens and boudoirs of America.

In keeping with the terms, I must now treat you to seven random, and hopefully interesting, things about me. Joy.

1) I am a classic film addict. As a bartender way-down-south-in-New-Orleans, I played TCM for my customers…constantly. At first they griped but ultimately, I got them hooked too. So hooked in fact that, on the night of a rivalry-charged Florida Gators/LSU football game, they opted for “Casablanca”. (Coulda been that funny clear liquid I was pouring into their drinks, I guess).

2) I was once bitten by a deadly spider. Yup, really. A Brown Recluse bit me on my jaw and on my chin. I lived.

3) I cannot swim. Nor can I play pool. ‘Nuf said.

4) I am a Katrina Survivor. Words of wisdom: If ever you find your self in the midst of a catastrophe, find 5 of the smartest, most resilient and creative women you can and hold on tight.

5) I have, on more than one occasion, sung in a bar. (Many thanks to the amazing patience of the incredible Monty Banks and the High Rollers.)

6) I have special blood. Everybody, with the exception of those with type AB neg, can use my blood.

7) I am fond of classic automobiles and have owned some really great cars, among them, a limited edition BMW convertible, one of the first fuel-injected Wolfsberg edition Volkswagen Rabbits and a 1969 Dodge Charger (turquoise, of course).

But enough about me. Now, for the new nominees.

1) More Like June. I met “June” in the grocery store and have been a devotee of her blog ever since, though how she manages to raise two small children and a husband, blog AND knit, I will never know.

2) Laura Gets Crafty. If you’ve ever wondered how high-level mathematics meets knitting, you’ve got to visit Laura. She is the “Big Bang” of knitters. (She can also be credited with introducing me to “Downton Abbey”, thank-you very much.)

3) Garret Knits Ohio. The funniest and fastest knitter in the mid-west! (Also notable because his head never appears in photographs. Ah…the headless knitter.)

4) Loaves and Stitches. As I mentioned the other day, I have gained 5 pounds since I started following this blog! This blog is so seriously comfy and soothing, I want to go live at her house.

5) Yarnathon366. Guerilla knitting at its finest. Everyday, I expect a post saying that, while the rest of the world slept, Nic knitted her way over the Eiffel Tower. She also knits in weird places, a pastime dear to my heart.

Tune in tomorrow for the winner!

Thanks for the shout out! And ps, I can’t believe you were a bartender in New Orleans (I can only imagine how awful drunken tourists must have been), and I had no idea about your being tied to Katrina. (I’m so sorry.) So happy you found fellow strong women to hold on to!

Aww, you are really sweet! Thanks for the nomination. If you lived here, you might gain more than 5 pounds–just ask the husband, lol! I’m just lucky I have these growing boys who eat everything up like its their last meal.
