Garter and lace shawl

Three Lacy Wraps

It’s a Friday in summer and a holiday weekend ensues. That means now is the perfect time to revisit these three lacy wraps! For your knitting fun this holiday weekend, take 40% off these lovely, lacy summer shawls in my Ravelry shop. No coupon code is required.

Highly portable and engaging to knit, these lacy wraps feature colorful fingering weight yarns. These make for some gentle and enjoyable summertime knitting.

Cumulus

Bands of puffy Garter Stitch flanked by smooth valleys of Stockinette Stitch energize this lacy wrap using basic stitches. Cumulus is worked in Hawthorn Tonal Fingering from Knit Picks.

An easy-to-memorize edge pattern uses directional decreases to coax the Garter stripes into cloudy rippled waves. This makes for a fun and easy knit that strikes the perfect balance of car or TV knitting, with an engaging edge treatment. The Cumulus Shawl is a shallow, semi-circular wrap worked from the top down.

Little Birches

lacy edge of two color wrap

I introduced the Little Birches Wrap back in September of 2016 as part of the Free Pattern Friday series.

Little Birches is narrow rectangular shawl with lacy ends. This soft yet crisp wrap is easy to wear across your shoulders or looped loosely around your neck. At 10″ wide, Little Birches is wide enough to be a wrap and airy enough to be a scarf. Work this lacy wrap in two different colors or choose a single shade you love. Lace ends are engaging to knit, while the stockinette section is perfect for car or commute knitting.

Little Birches is worked from the lacy ends inward, then joined at the center using the Kitchener Stitch. The lace pattern is presented in charted form.

Fractal

This generously sized semi-circular wrap is worked outward from the upper edge using directional increases to create a three dimensional flared hem.

Fractures in stone, dislocation and shifting plates inspire the Fractal Shawl. Its directional stitch movement echoes fault lines and the subtle displacement of rock under pressure. A classic ripple pattern is re-imagined in this lacy wrap that features a solid chevron center and open Arrowhead Lace.

I hope you’ll grab a few skeins and cast on one of these three lacy wraps for your holiday knitting this weekend. I hope it’s a safe and happy one!

Cheers!
