Twisty cabled socks

Featured: Little Socks

Brrrr! Good morning! It’s a little damp and chilly here in South Louisiana this morning, so I thought it might be a good idea to continue to feature some toasty-toe socks this week. Last week, we covered the big, thick, juicy socks so today we’ll focus on the little normal ones that actually fit inside your shoes.

Socks make excellent gifts and since it’s still early, you’ll actually have time to complete a pair or two before Christmas. The following three sock patterns are 30% off in my Ravelry shop through Friday, December 11. Use the coupon code TOASTYTOES2.

Barrett

Just one step beyond plain vanilla, the Barrett Socks are essential, authentic and everyday wearable for men, women and teens. With a central panel of textured stitches running from top to toe, Barrett keeps things interesting while showcasing a hand-dyed, variegated or marled yarn. Sock solids also get a lift from this sassy combination of knits and purls. These well-fitting socks are worked from the top down beginning with the Twisted German cast on and feature a short row heel.

Bay of Quinte

Flowing, aqueous cables travel the length of the Bay of Quinte Socks. Delighting the eye and challenging the knitter, they create movement that mimics the melting snow as it makes its way to the bay. Fun to wear and fun to knit in any color! The Bay of Quinte Socks have the Fleegle heel and are worked using the Magic Loop method from the toe up.

Sterling

Each year while unpacking at the Sterling Renaissance Festival, I encounter an old, hand knitted shawl. (I’m sure it was already old when it was purchased, probably from some nearby thrift store.) Although it is severely felted and shrunken to a fraction of its original size, I always admire it and feel a particular love for the old-fashioned stitch pattern worked in panels along its length. I’ve recreated that stitch pattern in these sweet socks made even more special by yarn dyed by hand and purchased at the festival. The Sterling Socks are worked from the toe up using Judy’s Magic Cast On and feature an easy-to-knit Fleegle Heel.

I hope you’ll enjoy these patterns! Have a great week and happy knitting!

Love,

Cheryl

I'd love to hear from you!
