My World This Week

Well, here we are. What a surreal week it has been. Though it is weird not having bars and restaurants, movies and pedicures to go to, I feel like this is a special time. It’s a time of quiet, of contemplation; it’s a time to be grateful for all that we have and to pray for those who have less. It’s a time to pray for those who are ill and for those who care for them. It’s a time to be in touch with simple things, activities and people who are meaningful to us. Here’s what I’ve been up to!

Knitting

What a wonderful time of creativity! There are no distractions. There’s no traffic, and not much that needs to be done. I’ve put in some time on my Upperline Socks. This is a project I love that always seems to be pushed to the side when a deadline comes along.

I finished a project this week. This is a super simple seamless yoke pullover for a knitting mag that shall not be named. This is Louisa Harding “Scintille”. I admit that it wouldn’t be a first choice of mine but it is quite a pretty color.

My favorite project right now is my upcoming Octavia Shawl. Tipsy Knitter Natasha is working on a test knit of the same project in a different color way and we are both absolutely LOVING this yarn! It is Shetland by Harrisville Designs. A woolen spun yarn, Shetland is airy and light yet wooly and toothsome. It almost knits to a boucle texture and is so pleasing to the hands.

I’ve been sifting through my stash over the last week and found these two nestled together in the same bag. Oooooh, I have a plan!

On Friday, I’ll release the pattern for the Gardenia Stole. Originally published by Interweave Knits, Gardenia returns to my catalogue this month and will be offered at a nice little discount over the weekend. Watch for it!

Gardening

As most of you know, I’m a new gardener so everything I do right now is tinged with newness. (Please forgive my exuberance at my own rudimentary achievements!)

Miss Laura and I took a whiz out to the local garden center over the weekend and I brought some new specimens and pretty pots home. If anyone knows the names of these guys, please weigh in!

I am also taking a stab at leaf propagation. This is a truly amazing thing to me! So, SO much thanks to Laura at Garden Answer for all of her amazing videos! You’ve given me the confidence to turn my brown thumb to green.

Look at the baby ghost plants!! I’m hoping to get mine to trail like this one. (It’s good to have goals, right?)

Eating & Drinking

I won’t even go in to the eating and drinking that has been going on around here! We’ve been keeping it healthy and light and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten better!

Well, friends…that’s all for today. I hope you are healthy and happy and taking some time for reflection and gratitude at this time! I’m sending you…

Love,

Cheryl

I'd love to hear from you!
