My World This Week

Woooh! It’s c-o-l-d here in South Louisiana today, probably the coldest it will be all winter. It’s 30 degrees. We may have one or two days of this type of weather in a year. Luckily, I’m prepared. Being a northerner, I’m equipped with all the warm things. I only get to drag them out once or twice a year, so I confess, when the temperature dips I’m kind of happy. It’s easy to be happy about cold weather when you know it won’t last.

Today I’m wearing my Pepper and Snow Pullover from Interweave Knits Fall/Winter 2018 and my Diana Hat, and of course, my good friend Major the Sheepy Sheep.

Though it doesn’t look like much yet, I am absolutely in love with this new yarn, Weld from Hudson + West Co. It is somehow magically woolen spun yet silky and soft and with a slight halo. I can’t seem to put it down! Although it was something of a crazy week, I actually managed to get in quite a few knitting hours, especially while binging Season 5 of Poldark. Amazon Prime has left us a cliff hanger with Ross down a well at the end of Episode 6. I guess we’ll just have to wait for the last 2 episodes.

Then this arrived and I am so excited!! I’ve received two color ways of luscious Shetland by Harrisville Designs. These will become my new Octavia Wrap, a classic cold-weather shawl with elements of open work and slip stitch patterning. I’m thrilled that Harrisville graciously agreed to support this project and I can’t wait to get started! I can’t decide which color way to knit myself and which to send to my test knitter because I love them both equally.

A diligent amount of swatching was accomplished this week also. I love swatching because it helps with the natural sense of cast-on-itis we all get at this time of year. This way, I can test yarns, work out patterns and touch all the lovely fibers without getting in over my head.

This coming Saturday is very special day for a couple of Tipsy Knitters that I have come to love very much. Marshall and Sarah will be married on Saturday at St. Jude! This calls for shoes. I wasn’t sure about the scallop-y upper edge, but Miss Laura says if you’re going to wear red suede stilettos, they should be all that and a bag of chips. So I’m keeping them.

That’s about all for me this week. Today will be all about knitting and making soup. I hope your week is great!

Love,

Cheryl
