My World This Week

Whew! Busy! Between Halloween, new projects and design submissions due, it’s been crazy! Plus there’s Bubba’s Scorpio Party this weekend AND we are releasing our new line of classic cocktails at the bar which means lots of graphics and extra work for me. It’s fun work though.

So, I’m welcoming a new member to my succulent family. Welcome, Crassula! (That’s her actual variety name). I think she will grow up very prettily and she makes me very happy. Her leaves are tubular with red tipped edges.

As promised, I’ve written the rough draft and begun knitting my new Upperline Socks. They are quick-knitting, heavyweight socks worked in Kenzie by HiKoo, probably my favorite worsted weight yarns for sock knitting. I’m excited about the movement of simple cables across a background of stockinette. Though I had very little time for knitting over the weekend, I’m nearly ready to turn the heel so that’s progress!

I may have mentioned that I’m working on a worsted weight, stranded color work pattern group. I wanted the motif to be large in scale, bold and youthful. It’s a bit of a stretch for me aesthetically, but after many trips back to the drawing board, I feel like I’m on to something. (Are you noticing a color trend emerging?)

Then this arrived!

I am SO excited to start working with Hudson+West Weld. This American sourced, spun and dyed concoction of Corriedale and Merino is truly a gem. It is a unique demi-worsted spun yarn, over-dyed with the most sophisticated colors, like Gold Leaf pictured here, and left natural like the Charcoal and Aspen in the photo. Can’t go into any more detail at present except to say that my lovely bag of yarn contained presents including this handsome fellow! (Note his neatly trimmed moustache).

So! This is the best of a very busy week. I hope you’re all happy and knitting like crazy.

Love,

Cheryl
