My World This Week

Good morning, knitters! It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted about what’s going on in Cheryl’s world. As usual, lots has happened. See that lovely Sweet William? And the beautiful Jasmine that Miss Laura has trained around the front railing? That’s just a sampling of all the things that are growing around here, some good, some not so good. Pollen was a contributing factor to the fact that I spent most of the last couple of weeks with pneumonia. Yup. Crazy. Thank God for antibiotics!

I was able to get out a bit over the weekend to take in a little of the annual French Quarter Fest. Since I could only see one act, I opted to see my friend Angie playing her congas. (Who doesn’t want to be a girl conga player?!?)

Remember this? Oh yes, the wonderful Yashi yarn made from palm fiber and my soon-to-be-released Fais Do-Do Hat which will make its debut at Jazz Fest. We’re just about through the sample and tech edit process and will have this quick, fun and useful pattern available for your knitting pleasure around the end of the month. You can read about the project here.

The biggest and best news of the past couple of weeks? Tipsy Knitters Co-Founder Lauren and her wonderful, handsome fella Brandon are engaged!!!! Brandon managed to keep it a secret from absolutely NO ONE except the unsuspecting Lauren! We were all on hand to welcome them when they arrived at the Artisan, all smiles and with a gorgeous ring. Our Lauren. Prettiest. Bride. EVER!

I’ve got a couple of lovely new projects in the works. The first is a semi-circular shawl commemorating our beloved Pleasant Beach Hotel where we spend many a happy evening in Upstate New York during the summer. I must admit that my motives were strictly selfish. I really need a shawl for those first few chilly evenings by the bay. The yarn is really special. It is Galler Yarns Heather Prime Alpaca in Ice Blue. I’m looking to have this project test knitted concurrent with the sample so if you’re interested, send me an email or reach out on Ravelry.

I’ve been swatching to beat the band for spring submissions to several publications and really reveling in the glory of garter stitch.

Hopefully, homes will be found for all the little ideas flitting about my little studio in the form of swatches. For now that’s all the news that’s fit to print! Hope it’s spring where you are and happy knitting!

Love,

Cheryl

I'd love to hear from you!
