Slade Pullover

Welcome the Slade Pullover

Hello, knitters! It’s a bit hectic here this week with all the Carnival festivities. The madness will continue through Fat Tuesday, March 5. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!

This week, I welcome my latest publication. The Slade Pullover has made the cover of Knit Picks latest book, “Adventure Awaits”. I’m thrilled to be part of this collection of outdoor knits that features sweaters and small accessories. There’s a wealth of great knitting here!

Inspired by outdoor enthusiasts everywhere, Adventure Awaits features sixteen beautiful yet robust knit projects that offer a perfect mix of both form and function. So whether you’re looking for a pair of extra-warm socks to wear on your next hiking trip or that perfectly snuggly pullover for late nights by the campfire, you’ll find it here. Novice and expert knitters alike will be sure to discover new and challenging knits for their next crafting excursions–the wilderness never felt so cozy!

When Knit Picks called for design submissions for this publication, I wanted to submit something utterly simple, but still fun to knit. I wanted it to have rustic appeal for men or women and I wanted it to be worked in a rustic, earthy natural fiber like Simply Wool Worsted. I love the way this yarn behaves for everything from cables to color work. Though there are 8 shades in this plump, hard-wearing yarn, no bleaches or dyes are used in its production.

Super warm and capacious and worked in Simply Wool Worsted, Slade is the voice in the wilderness for both women and men. Its lines are utterly clean and square but with a sophisticated saddle shoulder that showcases a minimalist panel of broken rib patterning.

Its deep funnel neck can be drawn up close around the neck for extra warmth while a kangaroo pocket with slanted inserts waits ready to warm chilled hands. This no-nonsense unisex pullover is edged all around with I-cord. Slade works under a vest or jacket or as stand-alone outerwear.

I couldn’t be more pleased with Slade, thanks to the incredible talents of sample knitter Annette K. with whom I continue to collaborate and admire. I hope you’ll enjoy Slade as much as I have!

Love,

Cheryl
