Picnic Socks

Fabulous Features

Good morning, knitters! My goodness, it feels like ages since I’ve posted (actually, it’s been exactly one week). It has been a crazy week around here with parades and winter design submissions. (More about that tomorrow!) Today, however, I’d like to focus on this week’s featured projects.

Socks have been on my mind a lot of late. They are so deliciously bite-sized and portable! I love the huge variety of sock yarns, hand-dyed, painted, speckled and more, and I love that socks are a virtual tabula rasa for stitch patterns, cables and lace.

As many of you know, I’ve been toiling along with socks for Father Richard who left us for cooler climates this fall. I’m embarrassed to say that I intended to have them finished before he left in the fall (much chagrin), then for Christmas (more chagrin) and now, well, I hope I can get them to him in Minnesota before he’s out golfing again in the spring (utter shame).

In my defense, I really could not make a decision about the heel. I have no idea why I felt I had to get all fancy about it, but I was really hung up. I tried a few different heels (including the popular Fish Lips Kiss heel), but wound up ripping them all out in favor of my standard shadow wrap short row heel. If you recall, I reconstituted an ancient cable from an old Beehive sock pattern and wanted to incorporate it in a sock made with more modern methods and instructions. The path to hell is paved with good intentions!

Anyhoo… in honor of Father Richard and his only semi-existent socks, I’m featuring sock patterns this week. Two of these, the Maypole Socks and Poppa Socks, are worked in DK/worsted weight yarns which make them super cozy and very quick to knit. While two, the Picnic Socks and the Sweet Onions Socks, have more interesting stitch work.

So, through Monday, February 25, the Maypole Socks, Poppa Socks, Picnic Socks and Sweet Onions Socks will be 50% off in my Ravelry shop. Pop them into your shopping cart and enter the code TOASTYTOES2 at checkout. I hope you’ll enjoy some super fun sock knitting this week!

Love,

Cheryl

I'd love to hear from you!
