Is It Cold Out?

Seems like no matter where you are in North America, it’s cold this winter. It’s even cold in the deep south where we are about to experience our second hard freeze of the winter. The banana trees all froze during the cold snap last week and are all wilted and weird looking. Same with the trumpet trees. The camellia blossoms seemed to do ok though, I’m happy to say.

Camellia Blossoms

When I escaped to the south back in the fall, I was sure I’d have enough woolies to get by with. Boy, was I wrong. And, of course, with a huge flock of deadline knitting to get through, I can hardly drop what I’m doing to knock out a cowl. Cowls are my preferred method of keeping warm. They’re easy to wear, simply looped around the neck a time or two. I like that there are no tails hanging down like there is with a scarf and because of this, they’re more yarn-economical. Cowls are a great way to use single skeins or small amounts of luxury yarn. There are infinite variations, too, which is why I love to make them.

I think these next few cold weather weeks might be a really good time to think seriously about knitting a snuggly cowl. So on Fridays between now and Groundhog day, I’m going to offer a weekly discount on a different cowl pattern from my Ravelry store.

Cockleshells Hat & Cowl

This week, for your knitting pleasure, I’d like to offer my Cockleshells Hat & Mittens. This is a seriously fun knit, very quick, and full of interesting little bits to keep any knitter engaged. It makes a great first time lace project too. I works up in no time with worsted weight yarn, the softer, the better! The hat is a very loose fit (I dislike hat head!) so if you’d like something closer fitting, I’d recommend size small. The Cockleshells Hat & Cowl pattern is 50% off for one whole week. Your coupon code is COWL1CS.

Happy knitting!

Thanks! But, to be fair, that’s not where I am (thank goodness!).

I'd love to hear from you!
