Knitting Well

While walking the dog...

I hate to be a bore, but this is one of those rare moments where all the knitting is going well. I have only the problem of too little time. I’m busier than a one-armed paper hanger.

Little Nameless Linen Sweater, Part 3

The little nameless linen sweater, though ripped back from ‘almost done’ at least three times, is truly ‘almost done’. I’m happy to report that the neckline, the part that worried me the most, is perfect, which is a miracle. After I took the photo above, I ripped back to the first waist increase (about 6″) and re-shaped the waist. I’m mid-way through the hem motif now. I’m happy. And I’m still enjoying it despite the callous that is developing on my left-hand index finger.

Gina's Brioche Cowl

In other news, I’m starting to work on samples for this fall’s classes. I’ll be teaching Brioche this year at our annual Wine & Wool in the County Retreat as well as at Creativ Festival in Toronto. Here’s a peek at the first of two fresh and fluffy brioche samples I’m working on. This is the beginning of Gina’s Brioche Cowl from PurlBee. I’m using Quince & Co. Lark in Egret as the main color while the accent color is a new yarn we’ve just received from Noro. It’s a pure wool offering called Kureopatora. If you know me, you know I have something of a love/hate relationship with Noro; this yarn definitely falls down on the “Love” side. It’s a lovely, lanolin-sticky, bumpy-soft pure wool that self stripes. It’s interesting to note how different two types of pure wool yarn can be! They are complete opposites. I find I’m really enjoying the results.

I’ve also got a mosaic knitting project going. (More on that later). Now is the time to focus on promoting Sock Camp: Basic Training which is scheduled for August 29th.
