In the Forest

Where has she been? I’ve spent the past couple of weekends with Miss Laura in the Forest. I’ve been playing dress-up and helping others do the same, in addition to a boat-load of sewing. I’ve been boating and lunching with the ladies by the bay in Fair Haven, and I’ve been eating lots of ice cream 🙂 Although I was in the shop a couple of days last week, today is my first real back-to-normal day.

I do have one finished object to report, though. I’ve finished the “Welcome to the Flock” sweater and hat set, designed by Julia Farwell-Clay. I worked this pattern in Quince & Co Chickadee in the Snap Pea colorway. At Laura’s request, I did the little sheep in angora yarn so they’d be fluffy. It was received on Sunday by a grateful Papa and lovely baby daughter, Anna. It was a treat to see the new baby and to hold her for a while and give her a bottle. She’s a little darling.

Despite having been frogged right back to the yoke, my linen sweater is making progress. I’ve just about finished to body to my satisfaction. I’m hoping to have this finished for the Twist Festival, so I’d better have pictures to share very soon.

In other knitting news, I really want to work up a version of my Cockleshell hat in baby llama. I’d originally designed Cockleshell as a project for my Intro to Lace course and worked it in Berroco Indigo. If you are unfamiliar with Indigo, it is a cotton yarn made from recycled jeans. I have worn that hat constantly all summer! It’s saved me from every summer bad hair day, every wind-blown boat or beach day and every day I’ve just been too darned busy to fuss with my hair. I’m hoping it will do as well in the winter. Believe it or not, I haven’t released that pattern because I can’t get a decent picture of it. I need either a model or a photographer!
