Spinning, actually.

From Field to FibreWas I actually here or was it a fiber addict’s fantasy? I’m pretty sure I was present at this morning’s spinning group meeting…there are pictures.

Spinning, actually! From dyeing to plying…these ladies do it all. Though I was not able to spin myself due to a shortage of wheels, I saw some of the most lusciously spun and dyed fibers ever, each richer and softer than the last. I knitted a little but mostly, I peered curiously over shoulders, lulled by the gentle whirring and clicking of the wheels, asking questions and indulging my fiber-lust.

Sandra's Suitcase

An open suitcase brimming with fuzzy treasures lay to my left, tempting me with its contents. Bags of subtly dyed fleece spilled onto the floor awaiting the wheel. And casually chatting as if nothing extraordinary was going on, a room full of ladies plied an age-old craft and made it look easy. Needless to say, I am New Member #26. ‘Nuff said.

And when are you going to learn to spin? You’ve been dancing around it for ages. Just do it already — you know that it is going to happen sooner or later.

I know 🙂 I can already see chunks of fleece all over my carpet :/

I'd love to hear from you!
