Fait Accompli! Winter Berries Part 2

Done! And I love it!

Thank you, Marjorie, for such a fabulous pattern. This scarf is so warm and soft and scrumptious I could wear it everyday. In fact, I’m wearing it now…with my jammies. Looks great! I added a few rows to the length of this scarf. I think the yarn specified in Marjorie’s pattern is a little heavier that the true worsted-weight that I chose. I worked about 5 inches even after the increase rows were completed and before I started the decrease rows.

What I really love about this scarf is its tapering, shaped ends. Though it is ample and luxurious through the neck area, the ends stick close to the body instead of flopping around into your soup. And I am so pleased with this yarn! I’ve found a new favorite! It’s not the least bit scratchy up close to my skin, knits like a dream, and once again, fabulously sculptural. With every shade in the rainbow available, my one regret is that I was not a little bolder with the color. Would be fabulous in red!

I really like to knit scarves because the gauge isn’t really that important, opening up the yarn potential. Generally, they are quick-ish to knit (disregard yesterday’s post about the snarly lace thing 🙁 , very satisfying, and the world is your oyster when it comes to applying patterns, cables and fancy stitches.

Here in Canada, scarves are not optional. They are a necessity. Many are needed to get the fashionable Canadian girl through the winter. Don’t even think about trying to make it through with only one. (That would be like owning only one pair of shoes…why would ya?)
