Well, the brochures have arrived, booth fees have been (gulp) paid, fabric ordered and booth designed. I guess we’re on now!
Since we’re all knitters, I thought I’d share the plans for the knitting bags here. Perhaps you’ll have some ideas I hadn’t thought of 🙂 I wanted to produce durable, “everywhere”, multi-purpose knitting bags that are useful, gender-neutral and from environmentally sensitive sources. These will be made from certified organic cotton with low-impact organic dyes. They’ll be available in three colorways: natural canvas with aqua, plum and red. I’ve tried to hit all the bases for knitters as regards interior pockets. I’ll also be doing coordinating needle books.
First, the flagship bag, The Craft Master. Although it’s designed with the knitter in mind, I think it would be great for almost any type of craft. It’s built on a 16″ doctor-bag style frame and features hand-straps and a detachable shoulder strap.
Since this has been a year of colorwork for me, I thought it would be great to make a bag with compartments inside for two different yarns to keep them from snarling. It’s the Fair Isle Tote.
For those who like to knit on-the-go, I’ve got the KnitNight Shoulder Bag. This bag has a hand strap and an adjustable shoulder strap so it can be worn cross-body…handy if you’re riding a bicycle or taking the subway.
I think I mentioned earlier that I’ll also be doing DIY handbag kits (to be revealed in a later post 🙂 In the meantime, I’ve been scouting around looking for display furniture for the booth. I got really lucky in Belleville on Thursday and found this!

I need to investigate this show! Perhaps a day off work should be planned for this…

I too will be there in spirit and wish I could be there to help man the booth. Can’t wait to see what you have done when we visit. And get some sewing advice lol, could take up the whole visit.

Can’t wait to see you guys, Sister-Woman! I was hoping to pass along one of the DIY kits for you to try…I’d love to hear your feedback!

Well about to try sewing yet again, no luck yesterday. This whole can’t see to thread the needle thing is a pain, and even more a pain when you have an automatic threader on the machine but it isn’t working, hoping you have one and can show me how it works.

The bags look great! Of course, that goes without saying, you did make them after all. I too would love to go to the show, but I won’t be able to make it. (Damn college.) I’ll be there in spirit, cheering you on.
Pearl
Wish you could be here too, Garret but college sounds waaaay more exciting 😉
It’ll be interesting to see what a great impact Kent has on your knitting!

Looks like the bags will be awesome. Too bad I don’t live in Mississauga anymore. I would love to go to the show.

Thanks, Betty! I’ll keep you posted with photos 🙂
