Knit With Linen

Knit With Linen!

Things are heating up here in the Deep South! It’s really the perfect time to knit with linen. Linen yarn is wonderful for creating garments that are dry and comfortable to wear all summer long. This week, I’m featuring Maizie, a simple seamless yoke pullover worked in luscious Quince & Co Sparrow. Through Friday, June 24, take 30% off the Maizie pattern in my Ravelry shop. No coupon code required!

Pullover Knit With Linen

I love the cool dry feeling of knitting with linen and, though I’m a devotee of bouncy woolen yarns like merino, I have a summer soft spot for the crisp, stretch free quality of linen yarn. Its lack of elasticity produces pleasingly odd shaped stitches that create an overall feeling of rusticity and naturalness.

Linen Seamless Yoke Pullover

Maizie is a sweet, simple lightweight sweater designed to be knit in easy wearing linen. Linen yarn is crisp and cool in the hand and creates garments that are airy and slightly rustic. The boho paisley-inspired lace motif is a pleasure to knit with linen. Its stiffness imparts a naive and natural quality to the openwork stitches yet creates superb drape through the fields of flat stockinette. And it gets softer each time it is laundered, taking on a brushed, suede-like quality with age.

Maizie is worked seamlessly from the lacy yoke down and features a rolled edge with twisted ribbing. A wide picture neckline and 3/4 length sleeves complete this hip summer sweater. Style Maisie with everything from soft cotton skirts to shorts and jeans for an effortless summer look.

I hope you’ll enjoy Maizie and that you’ll try knitting with linen this summer!

I'd love to hear from you!
