Here we are again! World Knit in Public Day is upon us, falling on Saturday, June 12 this year. World Wide Knit in Public Day is the largest Knitter-run event in the world. It started in 2005 and is now celebrated in 57 different countries (2016). Since we were unable to participate last year, I think this year will be even more fun!
At the last meeting of the New Orleans Tipsy Knitters, we tossed around the idea of meeting up that Saturday for some knitting and wine. I think I’ve come up with a plan!
Best Kept Secret
I’ve recently fallen in love with Acorn, the Brennan family restaurant located in City Park at the Louisiana Children’s Museum. Located on the banks of Little Lagoon, this gorgeous spot boasts an amazing view of native birds, wildlife and plant life. The menu is chock full of delicious items, all up to Brennan’s standards. Fancy coffees, tea and for die-hard Tipsies, wine and beer, are served in the covered seating area.
Here’s how to find us: Located on the edge of the Little Lagoon in City Park, we’re just past the Big Blue entrance to the Louisiana Children’s Museum.
Park on Roosevelt Drive and walk across the Lagoon and hang a left. Or, park in one of the parking lots in front of the museum on Henry Thomas Drive and walk the main ramp. Pass the museum store and the blue LCM entrance and we’re located towards the end of the walkway. Look for the Café sign!
I was hoping we could meet up and knit together for a couple of hours! Hope to see you there!
