Beautiful Beatnik

Here’s one down…or, almost. The Dundurn Cardigan is being blocked. Because I’m challenged for blocking mats (and space, for that matter), I’m blocking the back with the left and right front.

While it dries, I’m finishing the cap of the last remaining sleeve. While the sleeves are blocking, I’ll seam the shoulders and sides and begin knitting the button and buttonhole bands. Which reminds me…better choose some buttons while I’m in Toronto tomorrow.

I’m almost (stress ‘almost’) sorry it’s over; Knit Picks Gloss is such an all-round pleasure to knit. I am also really enjoying knitting with their City Tweed which brings me to some thoughts on my next sweater project.

City Tweed in SnowshoeI’ve had this “Beatnik” sweater on my queue for the longest time. Living in an old stone building with all of the attendant drafts, I find I often want a go-to sweater that I can slip on over whatever I’m wearing (including my jammies :). I’d like it to be fairly boxy and without a restrictive neck. I think Beatnik fits the bill, although I will probably ignore the waist shaping and make full-length rather than the 3/4 length sleeves. I think I’ll knit it a size up as well. I’d like to knit it in this shade of City Tweed. It’ll go with everything!

By the time my yarn arrives, we’ll be over this last, lovely spell of warm weather and I’ll want the warmth of yarn in my lap.

Teddy is Cool!

I love gloss too! I have a sweater that has been laying dormant for at least 3 years that I need to hurry up and finish for the fall. It’s in KP gloss fingering and I loved knitting with it but not the sloooow progresss of a fingering weight sweater.

Your sweater looks beautiful! I have a pair of socks in the KP gloss fingering that I love. And, of course, the Beatnik has been on my queue forever, too. Ah, I love fall!

I'd love to hear from you!
