Oh my goodness, what a crazy couple of weeks this is/has been! We’re gearing up for Mardi Gras, we had the Super Bowl last Sunday and parade season has seriously kicked off. On a gentler note, the weather has been dulcet. It has been spring-like, damp and full of life. Things are blooming. Look at this heavenly Mardi Gras colored iris I spotted on my coffee walk yesterday morning!
It seems that something lovely happens to me just about every day. For example, look what arrived upon my door step a couple of days ago!
This is such a treat. I’ve been listening to Emma Robinson’s Woolly Mammoth podcast lately and was transfixed when she mentioned a certain little herd of sheep she’d been following. As soon as I saw this natural un-dyed nylon-free 100% Jacobs 4 ply I had to have some.
Look at their sweet little faces! In her podcast, Emma describes finding and following the little flock, then obtaining their clippings. The fleece was sent from Northern Ireland to Wales to be spun. It’s so incredible to hold it in my hands, here and now, a world away, in New Orleans. It is light as air and the most enigmatic heathered gray color. I have the perfect shawl design for it and I can’t wait to start!
Did I mention we are gearing up for Mardi Gras? It is EVERYWHERE!
The Japanese magnolias are in bloom and the camellias continue relentlessly. Then last week THIS happened…
Thank you to everyone for your support of the Craghill Shawl. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m so grateful to all of you and to Hudson+West for the incredible experience!
In the world of knitting, my Octavia Shawl is becoming a lovely woolen spun reality! I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying this lovely Shetland by Harrisville Designs. The plies of the yarn are so fluffy, it almost feels like knitting a boucle! I can’t wait to see how the second color way is knitting up. It’s being worked by Tipsy Knitter Natasha whose fingers are on FIYAH!
Otherwise, I’m just up to my neck in costumes! Lots of photos will follow, I promise!
Love,
Cheryl
